Welcome to the new Forward-Motion.ORG!

As some of you may recall, last year I rode my bicycle across the whole continent of North America in an effort to stimulate awareness of a society-wide lack of exercise. Also, I raised money and collected bicycles which I fixed up and donated to the Tacoma Rescue Mission, giving dozens of folks an opportunity to explore, exercise, and feel the wind in their hair. The trip was a huge success.

This year, I'm raising the bar. My best friend and skilled climbing partner Mike Madison and I are going to be setting out on July 6th, 2006 to accomplish the first-ever human-powered traverse of Washington's four tallest peaks. This seems like a lofty goal in itself, but we wanted to take it a step further. The entire traverse, from Tacoma to Mt. Baker to Mt. Adams and back, is planned to be done in under four weeks. Hence the name, Four Peaks in Four Weeks.

The trip will test our bodies, our minds, our equipment. In order to complete the trip, we'll have to ride more than 200 miles per week AND climb a mountain.

The best part is that we're raising money for the Access Fund. If you're not familiar with their work, check them out at http://www.accessfund.org. This is FM.org's second stage--the first was to promote people getting out and recreating, the second is to help save wilderness and recreation areas so we all have a place to go when the city gets us down!

Anyway, keep checking back for updates. The site's going to be done soon!

cheers,

-brett wilder.
